CrispTuner — Privacy Policy
Last updated: 5 August 2026
CrispTuner collects no personal data. There are no accounts, no analytics, no advertising, no tracking, and no third-party SDKs that gather information about you.
Microphone
CrispTuner needs microphone access for the one thing it does: hearing your instrument in order to detect its pitch.
- Audio is analysed in real time, entirely on your device.
- Audio is never recorded, never written to storage, and never transmitted anywhere.
- Each block of audio is discarded as soon as its pitch has been measured.
- The microphone is only active while you have explicitly started tuning, and it is released when you stop or send the app to the background.
Data stored on your device
The app saves only your own settings, locally, so they persist between launches:
- your A4 reference frequency (for example 440 Hz);
- your selected instrument and tuning;
- a custom tuning, if you have created one;
- your selected temperament and the key it is built on.
These are stored in the operating system's standard app preferences and are removed when you uninstall the app. They never leave your device.
Network
The mobile and desktop apps make no network requests. The web version at
crisptuner.vercel.app is served as static files; standard web-server
access logs may be kept by the hosting provider, and no analytics or cookies are
used.
Children
CrispTuner is safe for all ages. Because it collects no data at all, it collects nothing from children either.
Changes
If this policy ever changes, the updated version will be published at this address with a new date above.
